Our Story
It all started in a small garage workshop in Illinois. Bob Greenwood, a lifelong tinkerer and engineer, was frustrated at the lack of reasonably priced commercial-grade equipment available to regular folks like himself. He decided to take matters into his own hands.
Using his expertise in engineering and manufacturing, Bob began producing high-quality torches, sprayers, and replacement parts. He focused on robust design, ease of use, and keeping costs low. Word of his quality equipment soon spread among contractors, farmers, and DIYers in the Midwest.
Within a few years, Bob was able to move production out of his garage into a small warehouse. Demand continued to grow regionally for the Greenwood® brand. By the 1980s, Bob was shipping orders nationwide and had expanded the product catalog to serve an even wider range of customers.
Today, Greenwood® has grown into one of the most trusted names in high-performance, affordable outdoor power equipment. But we remain a family-owned and operated business. Bob’s son Mike Greenwood now runs day-to-day operations, upholding the commitment to quality and service established by his father over 50 years ago.
We may be a bigger company now, but our small business roots shape everything we do. All Greenwood® products are still engineered in-house and closely checked for the reliability customers expect. Value and customer satisfaction always come first.
Our Headquarters
Our company headquarters and main manufacturing facility is located just outside Chicago, IL. This 50,000 square foot facility houses our executive offices, R&D department, manufacturing center, and warehouse.
Keeping design, engineering, and production under one roof allows us to closely control quality and respond quickly to customer demand. We’re proud to still produce American-made equipment using skilled labor from our local community.
In addition to our Chicago-area HQ, we operate regional warehouse and distribution centers in key markets across the country. This expansive fulfillment network allows us to ship replacement parts and other inventory quickly and cost-effectively to customers nationwide.
